It started when we first met and bonded over a love of playing music together and for our friends. Gordon had been a professional musician most of his life and Christy had played as a teenager but had taken a long break. We discovered immediately that we had the same chemistry with music that we had in other areas of our life and it was powerful! We were a great complement to each other; Christy with her magnetic personality and love of people and Gordon with his long experience writing and performing. Then people started asking us to play at parties and various events. We traveled to Ireland to study Traditional Irish music and that opened up a whole new world.
So we just kept having fun, writing songs, performing and touring until we had written enough material for our first album, “Swingy, Stringy, Funky, Folky”. That was a big success so we just kept at it.
We love traveling together, seeing our great country and the world while enjoying meeting new people and performing for them. We don’t see why we would ever stop!
We both love all kinds of music so our music is a blend of all those influences: folk, jazz, traditional Irish, rock, country blues and pop. That gives rise to really fun and exciting things like an Irish jig version of a ‘60s biker anthem or a Steely-Dan-esque song about Thelonius Monk and Kathleen Pannonica Koenigswarter or a poignant ballad about Cynthia Ann Parker that sounds like something The Band might have done.
We just want to keep going and to see where all this takes us! Can’t wait!
